Position Summary:
The PR & Media Relations Manager will lead the development and execution of strategies to enhance the visibility and support for our mission. This dynamic role focuses on building relationships with community partners, media outlets, and influencers who share our commitment to empowering youth. Working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in creating programs and strategies that raise awareness and drive engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer to create and execute media strategies that elevate the organization's reputation and mission.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers in the youth and nonprofit sectors. Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interviews.
Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and other relevant communications to support key initiatives and events.
Partner with the Director of Communications to gather stories, testimonials, and data to craft compelling content for various media channels.
Develop and implement public relations campaigns to promote major initiatives, events, and milestones, ensuring consistency across digital and print media.
Support fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and community outreach by securing media coverage and providing on-site media support.
Assist in the development of crisis communication strategies and act as a spokesperson or train designated spokespeople for sensitive media situations.
Build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to expand media reach and public awareness.
Stay informed on digital trends, offering recommendations for strategies that enhance the organization's online presence and reputation.
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns, reporting on media impressions and audience engagement.
Ensure PR efforts align with the organization's mission, values, and advocacy goals, positioning the organization as a thought leader in the field.
Work with the Chief Marketing Officer to manage the PR budget and leverage external agencies or freelancers when needed.
Qualifications:

A B.A. or advanced degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
Proven experience in building and nurturing media relationships, with a strong understanding of youth-related issues and nonprofit communications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft press releases, media pitches, and storytelling content.
2-3 years of experience managing crisis communications and acting as a spokesperson is preferred.
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, and work independently.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to take the lead on projects.
Travel:
Travel to multiple locations may be required for training and other business-related activities.

Physical Demands:
This role may require sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and using a keyboard. The ability to lift up to 25 lbs is occasionally needed.

Work Environment:
The work environment is typical of an office setting, with some variation in noise levels. Flexibility in work schedules may be necessary to meet the organization's needs. Hybrid work options are available, with occasional meetings in nearby counties.
