Role Summary:

Are you passionate about designing robust embedded systems and bridging the gap between hardware and software? Rivian & VW Group Technology is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Embedded Systems Engineer to join our System HIL team. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing cutting-edge embedded solutions, enhancing system-level test strategies, and ensuring seamless integration of hardware-in-the-loop systems with our vehicle platforms. Your contributions will help shape the future of electric adventure vehicles while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop software for efficient command and control of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems to simulate and validate embedded functionalities.
• Collaborate in systems integration, architectural design, and rigorous code review to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Develop and enhance system-level test strategies to validate embedded systems and ensure compliance with Rivian and VW technology's quality standards
• Provide technical support to infotainment, diagnostics, and firmware teams, bridging gaps between hardware and software.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of industry experience in embedded systems development, with at least 1 year focused on software testing, validation, or automation.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming with a strong foundation in C++, Python, or other relevant languages.
• Hands-on experience with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, UDS, Ethernet, or Serial interfaces in embedded applications.
• Familiarity with Design for Validation (DFV), Design for Testability (DFT), robotics, firmware development, or distributed system architectures.
• Experience with HIL systems or other real-time simulation environments.
• Knowledge of automotive standards such as ISO 26262 or ASPICE is a plus.
• Experience with version control systems like Git and build tools like Bazel.
• Familiarity with RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems) and embedded Linux environments.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot low-level software issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or debuggers.
• Adaptable to dynamic environments with a proactive approach to problem-solving and learning.

Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants : $135,100 - $168,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary : Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies covers most of the premiums.
