Job Description

Summary

The Assistant Director of Athletics (Operations) oversees operational areas of the athletic department, which entails supervision of game management for all sports, direction of all championship events on campus, improvement of student and fan game day experience, scheduling of facilities, and supervision of athletic work study personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight of facility scheduling, SAAC leadership and development, gameday event management.
  • Support the Director of Athletics in all aspects of the department's operations, including but not limited to athletic program management, compliance with regulations, promotion of student-athlete achievements, and enhancement of athletic facilities.
  • Enhance the athletic department's gameday environment to maximize student participation and fan experience.
  • Serve as direct supervisor of 50-person student worker gameday operation staff.
  • Provide direct compliance education and interpretation oversight to ensure compliance with NCAA, Presidents' Athletic Conference, and affiliate conferences policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the department liaison for club sports and intramurals at the college.
  • Oversee game operations and management staff for all aspects of NCAA Division III games and special events. Serve as primary hiring employee for all gameday workers (students, professionals, etc.).
  • Serve as the department coordinator for club sports, while collaborating with the Office of Belonging and Engagement for intramural sports.
  • Work directly with the Director of Athletics to be the main point of contact for projects regarding implementation of the strategic plan to meet Title IX requirements.
  • Serve as the department's liaison to the Title IX Coordinator and Compliance Officer.
  • Serve as the department liaison for all referees/officials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of minimum experience in college athletic administration. 3-5 years of work in a related field preferred.
  • Candidates must also be organized and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Supervisory Duties

The position is responsible for supervision of 50-person student worker staff.
