Job Summary
Reporting to the Editorial Director, the HCM content strategist works to tell the Holy Cross story across Marketing & Communications' digital and print magazine platforms. This standout team member plays a key role in bringing Holy Cross to life for its audiences through crafting, coordinating and producing engaging content that appeals to the College's audiences and furthers Marketing & Communications' goals. This requires a deep understanding of the College, its mission and its audiences, as well as how storytelling can be best leveraged and effective across platforms for such audiences.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Writes assigned and self-generated stories about the Holy Cross community, primarily for Holy Cross Magazine digital, but also for print.
  • Creates and manages production of the monthly Holy Cross Magazine newsletters, identifying the best content to include for each version (parent, alumni and campus).
  • Builds/designs stories on Drupal for maximum engagement on HCM Digital
  • Partners with social media to create HCM posts across social media platforms
  • Analyzes social performance and HCM Digital performance monthly
  • Coordinates supplemental digital multimedia content for written content
  • Works with the content team to brainstorm content ideas
  • Assists in researching, organizing, formatting, writing, editing and proofreading digital content, print publications and other material.
  • Posts online content, ensuring compliance with style, brand guidelines.

  • Exhibits professionalism in collaborating with and interviewing campus partners and students for stories; proactively reaches out to stakeholders and follows up on leads.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in identifying stories and pitching content.
  • Consistently adheres to deadlines and employs excellent time management skills.
  • A self-starter who can generate content ideas consistent with College and marcom goals and can work independently within a highly collaborative team.
  • Takes direction and implements accordingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments at once, and prioritize appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including collegiality, a sense of humor, good listening, discretion and an ability to engage successfully with a range of individuals and personalities.
  • Understands, values and respects diversity as an individual, in a team and within groups while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of professional writing experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with Adobe software, Google Suite and Drupal. Familiarity with social media platforms, graphic design and higher education a plus.

    This is a full time, exempt level position with a salary range of $60,000-$65,000. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees.
