Assistant/Associate/Full Professor In-Residence/Professor (tenure track): Microbiome Sciences

Position Overview:
The salary range for this position is $108,160-$260,500. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. ()


The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Regular/In Residence Series) in Microbiome Sciences, including the role of microbiome in human health and disease, microbial metabolism, microbiome ecology, interaction of mucosal pathogens with host-associated microbial communities, metagenomics, antimicrobial resistance, microbiome changes and implications in viral, bacterial, parasitic, fungal infections and cancer. The earliest anticipated start date is June 2, 2025.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a funded research program in microbiome sciences. In addition, the candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial and collaborative team atmosphere, and strong commitment to contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion. Our current research vision includes innovative translational discoveries at the intersection of microbiome, immunology, infectious diseases and epigenetics for enhancing human health and empowering the needs of underserved populations and advance these discoveries to practice. This research recruitment would also promote and develop team science projects with investigators in UC Davis Health as well as other colleges at UC Davis. This research recruitment will bolster the intellectual and technical capacity of the microbiome core infrastructure and will serve as the platform for generating new ideas and technologies to advance research in microbiome and human health.

The MMI Department faculty are engaged in research investigations on human infectious diseases, host immune interactions with pathogens and commensal microbiota, immune responses in malignancies, vaccine development and immune therapeutics for cancer and infectious diseases, epigenetic regulation and genetic therapies of autism spectrum of neurodevelopmental disorders. Laboratory and office space is available (including BSL2 and BSL3 laboratory space), with state-of-the art facilities, instrumentation, and administrative support. The NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center supports clinical, translational, and basic research in cancer. The MMI research and teaching programs intersect with other campus-wide programs and resources in the School of Medicine, UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, Genome Center, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, MIND Institute, Stem Cell Program and California National Primate Research Center.
